G'day Left Right followers!
Here is a quick update as to how you can get involved with Left Right and some of our latest developments to continue your involvement in public policy! As we're now set up in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia there are plenty of local activities for you to get involved. We now have a really wide range of national initiatives for you to get involved in so don't forget to check these out below!
We're proud to announce that in October Left Right will have over 60 volunteers working part-time to create opportunities for young people to get involved in public policy across four states! We're recruiting right now for some new positions so check them out!
Over the next few months we're working to improve the programs available and to increase awareness and credibility of our policy work. We're in the process of jazzing up membership so you can squeeze every bit of worth out of $20! Sign up for membership now to really take advantage of what Left Right has to offer! There hasn't been a better time to sign up!
In July Left Right's previous Executive Director, Thom Woodroofe, was awarded Young Victorian of the Year in recognition of his work, most notably as a founder of Left Right! Thom is now a member of the Board of Directors and mentor to senior staff of the organisation. Congratulations Thom!

Welcome to our new website

Welcome to the new look website of Left Right Think-Tank.
It has been an incredibly exciting time for us since our public launch late last month at Federation Square hosted by The Chaser's Charles Firth.
With our new website comes more information and improved functionality. You can now:
- Register online to become a member today. For $20 you can now sign-up online to become an official member of Left Right. You will receive your membership package in the next fortnight and continue to receive great benefits over the next twelve months, including discounts at events, direct access to our policy team and the opportunity to become involved in an organisation at an exciting time. Register online today!
- Apply for the Fellowships Program online. If you are aged 16-19 and interested in learning more about public policy through a five month program alongside your studies then apply today online! Applications are now open and close at 5pm on May 8th.
- Read & comment on our first policy pieces. Our first opinion pieces are now available for comment through our website. There are some really interesting themes including the north-south pipeline, the state of youth mental health services, the Rudd Government’s response to climate change, the role of technology in our society, a national Human Rights Charter and the role of young people in foreign affairs. Download them online today!
- Register for upcoming events as they are listed. Our next event will be a discussion based event in Melbourne on Australia’s contribution to Afghanistan. Keep checking the website over the next few weeks for more information.
- Find out more information on positions in NSW & WA Applications are now open for eleven new volunteer staff positions in Victoria (3), New South Wales (6) and Western Australia (2). Various State Director, Operations and Policy positions are available across each of the three states. Download position descriptions and start preparing your application today!
- Make a financial contribution. As a non-profit and independent organisation Left Right relies on the kind support of individuals and organisations to achieve our aims and to deliver our programs. Your donation will help us work towards involving young people in public policy and generating ideas for the future. You can make a small contribution online through our new website today!
