FOREIGN & STRATEGIC

Foreign policy permeates into almost every aspect of everyday life, through communications, travel and other areas. It is therefore crucial that governments maintain healthy and robust relations with other states and international organizations. Left Right will examine a broad range of areas which underpin Australia’s foreign policy efforts, including Australia’s role in the Asia-Pacific region, the importance of the United Nations and the relationship between the United States and Australia. On the domestic front, Left Right will also examine the effectiveness of counter-terrorism measures utilized by the Federal Government.

Current key focus areas:

  • Ramifications of Barack Obama’s election on Australian foreign policy;
  • Australia's role in the South Pacific: provision of aid, dollarization, intervention and state building; and
  • Australia's major bilateral and multilateral relationships in the Asia-Pacific region.
