Left Right Think-Tank will examine the effectiveness of counter-terrorism measures in Australia and what impact current legislation has on limiting individual freedoms. Left Right will also review the level of transparency in government; with an emphasis on what government information individuals can access through Freedom of Information provisions and what on grounds can this be rejected. Other topics to be covered include censorship in an open society, growing trends in e-Crime (particularly identity theft) and the extent to which human rights are protected in Australia.
Current key focus areas:
- National security legislation;
- Transparency of government and Freedom of Information; and
- Protection of human rights.
