Policy Fellowship
What is the Policy Fellowship?
The Policy Fellowship is an exclusive opportunity that allows young people to be involved in producing policy in Australia.
The Fellowship consists of a series of 12 workshops that explore the myriad of factors that lead to, and create, change in Australia.
Prominent representatives from government, the media, non-government organistions and other key stakeholders guide the sessions in conjunction with experienced Left Right staff.
Operating in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, the Fellowship allows groups of young people in these cities to come together to write a policy vision for an issue they care about.
The prominence of our organisation awards our Fellows with unrivalled mentorship and training opportunities. Political advisors, heads of department and policy-specific experts will guide and advise the Fellows throughout the production of their policy, allowing them to formulate credible, hard-hitting and broad-minded recommendations to some of Australia’s most pressing problems.
Our Fellows will engage in rigorous consultation and engagement with young people across Australia throughout the writing their policy, enabling them to act as a voice for young Australia.
Finally our Fellows will have an opportunity to meet with Ministers and shadow Ministers to advocate their policy directly to government.
Why do we do it?
We know that young people are no longer content to let their politicians write the future without their involvement. So we’re launching a project that enables you to create policy yourselves.
Policy makers have an enormous amount of influence on the future, but a limited stake in it. We want to make sure that the next generation have a chance to have their visions for the future realised. After all, we’re heavily invested in decisions made today, as we’ll feel their effects tomorrow. We know that young people aren’t just the leaders of the future, but a powerful catalyst for change today. We want to provide young Australians a chance to meaningfully contribute to building a future we can all be proud of.
And a final word of thanks!
Thanks to the fantastic support from our sponsors Shell and UniWA we are able to run the Policy Fellowship at no cost to the participants!
