Biography
Will Emmett, 22, is the Chief Executive Officer of Left Right Think-Tank, Australia’s first independent and non-partisan think-tank of young minds.
Founded in early 2008, Left Right’s mission is to involve young people in public policy. Its vision is for a society that seeks and embraces the ideas of young people.
Will’s passion for sustainability, empowerment through education and applying new levels of thought to long-standing problems led to his involvement in the policy development sector. Appointed Victorian State Director of Left Right Think-Tank in 2009, Will was subsequently appointed Deputy CEO of Left Right in January 2010. Upon his new appointment Will was tasked with directing the organisation’s National team as well as the strategic development of the national non-partisan think-tank.
Will has a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University with a major in Economics.
With experience across the Government, corporate and non profit sectors Will has a wide range of experience delivering projects for Shell Australia, The Australian Government, ABC and the United States Government.
Will’s involvement leading and developing young people began as a senior development coach for a Melbourne rowing squad after three years of élite level rowing while at school, including twice being a national champion.
In March 2010 Will was selected as Australia’s youth representative at Commonwealth Day in London, where one of the official duties was to meet with Her Majesty, The Queen of England. Will also sits on the Australia Youth Affairs Coalition Policy Advisory Council and has worked in the information technology and online social networking development space.
As CEO of Left Right Think-Tank Will hopes to bring a voice to all young Australians by creating an environment for shaping and developing innovative and sustainable ideas through the formation and advocacy of high impact public policy.
